![]() Buthaina Hamed Kazim Butheina Hamed Kazim is the Strategy and Business Development Manager for Dubai Media Incorporated. DMI, the largest media conglomerate in the region, operates six free-to-air satellite channels, three newspapers and a radio station. Prior to joining DMI, Kazim was the Channel Manager of Noor Dubai TV, the region’s first radio-television channel. During her time at Arab Media Group, she was the Project Manager for Seen TV, which was set to be the Middle East's first dedicated arts and culture broadcast platform. In 2010, she was the recipient of the Women in Leadership award for Leading Woman in the Public Sector category. In addition to her corporate career, Butheina Kazim is the Producer of the independent documentary film Letters to Palestine, which has screened across Palestine and Dubai International Film Festival. Kazim is currently working on a series for Al Jazeera Documentary Channel. She was a juror for the iEmmys Asia & Africa competition and the curator for an independent films program at the Shelter Dubai. Butheina is regular commentator on issues of media, culture and communication and co-hosts radio talk show Dubai Tonight on Dubai Eye 103.8, comments in national newspapers and has been featured in regional media including The National, MBC, Dubai TV, the Hollywood Reporter, Al Khaleej and Arabian Business. She is a brand ambassador for #iamhere and has been profiled in two documentary films about women in the Arab. Her public speaking activities include TEDxDubaiWomen, HCT Adventure Forum and representing the UAE at the European Producers Club at the 2011 Berlinale. Butheina Kazim is the first Emarati woman to trek the Annapurna Circuit to help build an orphanage in Nepal with the Dubai-based charity, Gulf for Good for which she was named a Goodwill Ambassador. She has been involved in pro-social activity in Dubai, Kingdom of Bahrain, Nepal, Egypt and Canada. Her activities include involvement in the General Organization for Youth and Sports (GOYS)'s Anti-Drug Campaign, Shelter’s Pakistan Flood Relief Campaign, ARAMEX's Send Hope to Gaza drive, Al Hayatem Charity Organization and Our Generation. Currently, Butheina is working on Handheld Stories, a media production educational initiative targeted at teaching children in Palestinian refugee camps. Kazim was educated in Canada and graduated on the Dean’s Honor List from the York University and Sheridan College joint program in Toronto. She is a recipient of the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid EDAAD Scholarship and started her career as a designer in Montreal, Quebec. Butheina is a Provisional Member of the Registered Graphic Designers of Ontario and a Fulbright Scholarship nominee from the US State Department.
