Temperatures/ Rainfall

Time and Temperature in Dubai now

How hot does it really get?? This is one of the most common questions asked of me in emails. Sunscreen and sun glasses are essential most of the year, it is extremely bright here especially with the sand and many white buildings.

These are my rough estimates of temperatures in Dubai. I'm sure the official ones will look lower.

In the years I've been here I've found it gets very hot from May till October, expect nothing below 40c in the day and 35c at night. In July, August , September day temperatures hit 48c+ and at night about 38c and Dubai is VERY HUMID in these months. For example when I get out of my car or leave a building my glasses always fog up, as if I had just opened an oven!!!

Outdoor exercise is definitely out in those months. The beach water is hot and in the day the sand burning. Many people go to the beach at night, but a "chilled" pool is your best choice to cool off. Speaking of pools, it is not law here like in Australia that pools must be fenced, so toddlers  and young children need careful watching around them especially if you live in a compound that opens onto a pool.

However, remember that everything is air conditioned, Houses, Apartments, Shopping Malls, Gyms, Cinemas, Cars etc. The worst thing that you could do besides working or walking outside is having to get in a car at noon.

From November to April the weather is wonderful varying from around 25c to 34c in the day 15c to 19c at night.

It has rained for two to three days in the last two years that I can remember, usually in December or January.

I hope this helps.

Here is proof that the mornings sometimes get cold. These were taken from the from the 33rd floor of the Emirates towers hotel on Dec 8th 2005.

Underneath the fog is the main road to Abu Dhabi, the Sheikh Zayed road.
