Parent Opinions

Regent School

This school is located in a villa just off of Al Wasl Rd but due to regulations regarding schools in residential areas, it is being moved in the near future.  This move might change the ‘mix’ that is presently in the school as they intend to expand.

I was a teacher in Alberta Canada -- Gr. 4 through 7 -- so  I examined the school’s curriculum on the Internet before I arrived in the UAE.

My son is in Gr. 1.  His teacher has a degree in Child Psychology.  This indicated the level of quality in the teaching staff at the school and I felt secure that my son would be in capable hands, even though it is a VERY small school at this time.  It seems as though the faculty are very stable.

Another strength of this school is its racial mix.  Caucasians are outnumbered by Asians and Orientals, which provide for a wonderful cultural milieu.  There are Japanese and Arabic classes, as well as many extras.  The school does not have extra facilities on campus, like a pool, so they go on many field trips.  For example, on the weekly sports day, my son had ice skating for about a third of the year, swimming in a pool and outdoor activities for the balance.

Behavior issues and these were dealt with promptly.  Communication between school and home is though drop-in, phone, and a communications book (daily).
