Getting to DWC on Public Transport
Thanks
to Fraser McDonald for this information
Although the
College is generally well served by public transport, because of the lack of
pedestrian crossings, it can be a bit tricky getting to and from college.
Also please note it is impossible to buy a ticket on a public bus. You need to
pre-purchase your NOL card at the train station or from a shop. You can find out
where you can buy them from the RTA website. Also beware running out of credit.
You will not be able to use your NOL card on a bus if you are out of credit.
There are machines at bus and Metro stations where you can top up your card.
When using your NOL card on a bus you need to swipe it against the sensor by the
door as you enter and exit the bus. Failure to ‘swipe out’ will result in you
being charged the maximum fare.
There is a formula which will combine a combination of journeys within certain
times and zones to make one journey, so taking the metro and a bus to college
will cost less than if those two fares were charged separately.
TO COLLEGE.
The easiest way to get to College is from the Green line Metro. Exit STADIUM
station and cross the bridge. When you exit the station entrance there is a bus
stop near by. You can either catch a taxi from there or take one of Two public
buses. Number 13A or 22. Both stop at the bus stop near the college main
entrance. The number 22 then goes round the side of the college and after going
round the roundabout behind stops opposite the student pick up area.
If you are coming from the red line, it is possible to catch a bus (F08) form
the EMIRATES station which also stops in front of the college.
FROM COLLEGE
The fastest and easiest way to get to the Metro from college is by taxi.
However, if you wish to use a connecting bus to take you to the metro station it
is possible. Exit the college by the student pick up bay near the Applied
Communications building, or via Salaam gate and the car park using gate four in
the back corner. Walk past the Diyafa high school to the roundabout. There is a
bus stop about 20 meters before the roundabout and another about 20 meters
after. From this bus stop you can catch the 13A bus which goes to Al Nahda
street before coming back in front of the college. It stops near AL NAHDA metro
station and STADIUM metro station before going to the gold souk bus station.
Another bus you can catch at the same stop is the X13. It goes from behind the
college to Satwa bus station via Naif and Shindagha. It stops at DEIRA PALM and
AL GUBAIBA metro stations.
