Parking in DubaiDubai municipality has parking meters in many central car parks, main roads and central streets. You must pay at the Orange ticket dispenser, get your ticket and display it on your dashboard. You can also buy a parking card that can be used in the meters through Emarart Service Stations ( The Green Ones) or sometimes from a parking officer.
A new easier and my recommended way is this. It will save you having to gather together lots of change........You will have to register your number on the site below, Then... For example, when you park, you send your reg plate details, the zone you are parked in and the length of time you will be there for, as a text to 7275 and the cost of parking comes off your phone credit. eg, I97670 343A 4 And they text you back with your ticket details. They also alert you 10 mins before your time is up and you just reply to add extra time.
Fines are high if you don't have a ticket, overstay your time, or if you even just park on the footpath/pavement/sidewalk for a few minutes. Be careful! I write from experience. Towed cars The following was in a Dubai police newsletter "If a motorist's vehicle is towed away he or she can call 2694848, give the licence plate number, and receive the location of the vehicle".
