Compulsory Medical Insurance

The HCT operates a group health scheme. You MUST be a member of this or an equivalent scheme.

In the year starting January 2011, health cover is free for HCT employees and  sponsored dependants up to the age of 18.

Membership is compulsory for all new overseas staff on arrival. Locally hired staff who have current private medical health cover, are exempt from joining on proof of cover.

For in-network, in-patient care (hospital stays): 100% coverage, no deductible, direct payment. 

For all outside-network, in- and out-patient care (doctor visits, lab tests and pharmaceuticals): 80% of charges covered on reimbursement basis; for in-patient care where the expense may be significant, Daman will in most cases arrange payment at the request of the hospital. 

For in-network, out patient care (doctor visits, lab tests, pharmaceuticals): 100% coverage after a AED 50 deductible, direct payment ( i.e. you have to pay Dhs 50 per visit but that is all , this also covers pharmacy scripts)

It offers EMERGENCY ONLY cover abroad in any country while you are on vacation.
