The past participle is one
of the principal parts of a verb.
The past participle is used in the PRESENT PERFECT and
the PASSIVE forms of the verb. Both present (ing) and past
participles are also sometimes used as adjectives.
A participle is not a finite verb by itself.
The past participle of regular verbs is the same as the
simple past form: both end in -ed.
